Getting fit and staying healthy

I'm sure that everyone who is trying to get fit and stay healthy has run across the same thing as I have.

There are more so called programs, diets, miracle pills, Fat Burners, ect than anyone can look at in a day. I have been trying to get into better shape, lose weight and stay that way for a while now. I have wasted lots of time and money trying out fat burner pills, miracle diets and workout plans that don't work. Each time I have gotten the same result: No weight lost and in no better shape with yet another useless program in my closet. I have found out that the reason is they don't set realistic goals so I either get hurt or discouraged because I can't keep up.

What I have figured out from all of this is that it just takes good old fashoned eating habits and hard work to get healthy and in shape and it takes discipline to stay that way. There is no pill that will accomplish this for me. Some do help, but not without putting in an effort during your workout.

Not to bash all programs though. I looked into Tony Horton's programs and they seem to be worth trying. Tony Horton is an impressive individual. He is nearly 50 years old and he looks like he could be in his 30s. I came across his P90X Infomercial while channel surfing. Now normally, I just keep surfing because I hate infomercials (especially after my experiences with their products), but something kept me watching this one. He didn't promise anything without the hard work. That is what kept my attention.

I gave some serious consideration to ordering P90X and giving it a try. The sting of a lot of wasted time and money kept me from ordering. A few days later, one of my buddies came up from Vegas and he had the program. I looked the entire program over completely and was thoroughly impressed. He stresses the importance of only doing your best rather than trying to keep up with him and his "kids" as he calls them. The catch phrase he uses is "Do your Best, Forget the Rest". He is a very motivational person. I tried out one of the discs just to get a feel for it despite the strong warnings in it about participating if you are not fit enough. I didn't feel like crap for not keeping up like I usually do because of his motivational methods. He also has a huge network of people on his website to help keep you motivated and to help if you have questions or encounter problems in your quest to change your life.

Since I m not in very good shape, at least not enough to do P90X without getting hurt, I decided I would put in the effort to get that way before I ordered the program. Meanwhile, he has come out with his Ten Minute Trainer. That program seems to work with my schedule so as soon as I get ready, I plan to order it and get to work.

If you want to get into shape and stay healthy, You have to make a change all the way from the ground up. Consider giving Tony Horton a look. He seems to have what it takes to succeed.
